Jhulta Minar Ahmedabad – Jhulta Minar or also known as the Shaking Minarets is a famous tourist attraction. It\’s placed among 9 need to see the list of Ahmedabad. It\’s a part of a former Muslim mosque Sidi Bashir, which was constructed somewhere along 1452 either by Sidi Bashir, a slave of Sultan Ahmed Shah or by Malik Sarang, a noble in the court of Mahmud Begada, also a Sultan of Gujarat.

The building was destroyed in 1753 in a war between the Marathas and the Khan of Gujarat Sultanate, and only the two minarets and an arched central gateway connecting the minarets remained. Jhulta Minar is constructed in Gothic Muslim style with Rajputana influence. These minarets are the tallest in Ahmedabad, 34 meters long, and even though the stairs leading to the minaret top suffered a great deal of damage over the time, they are still in use.

A bit of shaking of one minaret results in a shaking of the other minaret over the time of few seconds, but the arched connection remains still. Jhulta Minar is stationed very near to a railway station, and even though the time has left its toll on the building, they are still able to withstand all the fast trains passing by on a daily basis.

Jhulta Minar has no entry fee, it takes about one to two hours to soak in all of its beauty. The minarets are open for public visitors from 5:30 AM to 9:00 PM.
